Dreaming in the Shadows 
This body of work represents the inner struggle we have as humans. The shadow is the repressed parts of ourselves that we find unpleasant or cannot tolerate acknowledging. It is in the nature of our shadows that we cannot see them clearly. Shadow work is the unification of who we consciously are with the parts of ourselves that we repress. This collection describes some of my personal battles and I hope by bringing them into the light I can inspire you to take back your power in any areas of your life you may be struggling in. The juxtaposition of the creatures and distortion of scale creates a surreal, dreamlike conception of realism describing how things are not always as they seem. I am drawn to the contrast between black and white against a colourful background. The sky in each painting in this series represents a different colour of the rainbow. I have always been inspired by the magical aura of rainbows and the symbolism of searching for the elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
