The Picnic

‘The Picnic’ is a commission I painted for a collector. It contains images of important aspects of her life. The 2 children playing in the tree are her son and daughter. Her wee boy has a tractor on his shirt as he loved tractors when he was little and her daughter is such a happy and individual personality and so cool. In the background is Drimsynie Estate, on the banks of Lochgoilhead where they had an amazing family holiday. (irrelevant, hilarious fact: one of my kids used to call it Loch Boiled Head as he couldn’t pronounce it). Her wee boy is holding her childhood teddy and the birds represent her love of singing. The cakes celebrate her love of cooking and baking and the lilies were her wedding flowers. The painting captures the essence of childhood. Carefree happy days.
