Dreaming

‘Dreaming’ is my interpretation of the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The main theme of the story being that true love conquers all when the girl is magically awakened by a valiant prince and that good will always triumph over evil. While an optimistic viewpoint, unfortunately I’ve not found that to be the case in real life. The overall feeling of the painting is sadness as emotions are trapped inside the black hearts and are not ready to be seen or expressed. The girl is sleeping and hiding from the world. She needs to feel her emotions in order for her to heal but she’s not ready.
