Blue Sunday
‘Blue Sunday’ is about having the ‘blues’. It’s the morning after the night before. It’s about coming down to reality in the cold light of day. It usually follows an amazing time involving alcohol when you lose all your inhibitions and feel really good. And then you wake up and remember what you did or said.
Paisley Abbey stands proudly behind the blossom trees which symbolize a time for renewal and the fleeting nature of life. Butterflies are also a metaphor representing transformation and caution us that life is short. The gravestones stand for the people in life who have gone. Dandelion clocks, which feature in many of my paintings, symbolise hope and optimism. She is making a wish but she can’t tell you what it is or it won’t come true.
