Steeple in Spring
Kilbarchan Steeple, in it’s picturesque setting, nestled among the strawberry pink blossoms of spring was erected in 1755. The buildings attached to the Steeple were originally used as a school and meal market. A statue of Habbie Simpson, Kilbarchan’s famous left handed piper can be seen in a niche on the Steeple. Habbie comes down from his alcove once a year to pipe a celebration for Lilias Day as he leads the historical parade through the streets of the village.
Spring is the season that symbolises rebirth, renewal, growth and development. It is associated with hope as nature awakens and flourishes after the cold winter months. Spring signifies an opportunity to experience a renewal of the soul, mind, body and life.
