Sisters

‘Sisters’ was a commission from a family who wanted to surprise their Mum, a collector of my work. The painting depicts their house and 2 daughters. It reminds me of me and my sister and I wanted to encapsulate the love that sisters have for each other. There are giraffes on the pots because my client likes giraffes and Ailsa Craig is in the background because they see the Island from their holiday home. Tulips are my client’s favourite flower and the robins represent lost grandparents watching over them. The lights are on in the house to convey a feeling of warmth, safety and homeliness. Dandelion clocks, which feature in many of my paintings, symbolise hope, optimism and wishes coming true.
