Dancing Skies Over Callanish

The Standing Stones of Callanish, on the Isle of Lewis, are amongst Europe’s most spiritually evocative prehistoric monuments. Built around 2900 – 2600BCE, they predate Stonehenge and formed the centre of a much larger ceremonial landscape. They are an ancient monument to lunar and solar cycles, aligned with celestial events. These giant megaliths track the complex 18.6-year cycle of the moon which seems to dance along them like a great god visiting the earth.

The Aurora Borealis cascading over the stones carries deep symbolic and sacred meaning.
