True Love’s Kiss

I painted ‘True Love’s Kiss’ to highlight the plight of many species which are now endangered due to climate change. As the polar ice caps are melting many animals are losing their habitat and source of food. The painting is also about the love a mother has for her child. Polar bears are starving and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for them to find enough food for themselves and their young to eat. How heart breaking it must be for a mother to not be able to feed her child.

The whiteness of the ice is contrasted with the darkness of the water. Water which will cause so much destruction through flooding as the ice caps continue to melt. The sky is illuminated in a spectacular aurora borealis bringing hope that change is still possible. The Romans associated the Northern Lights with a new day believing them to be Aurora, the goddess of dawn.
