‘Shine Your Light’ depicts Hecate, Goddess of magick, witchcraft, cross-roads, thresholds, the night and the moon. Often depicted with 3 heads she is associated with the Triple Goddess Archetype, embodying the three stages of womanhood: maiden, mother and crone.

She carries a torch to illuminate paths and guide souls through transitions between earthly and otherworldly realms. The light is a symbol of protection and can be seen as a metaphor for revealing truth and dispelling negative forces, bringing clarity to situations, especially in the face of uncertainty.

She is pictured in a doorway as her domain encompasses all places of transition and passage.  A protector of households, she is a guardian, preventing evil from entering and a guide to allow a safe passage. Her keys represent her power to unlock both physical and metaphysical doors, including those to the spirit world.

Often associated with dogs (especially black hounds) embodying roles of guardians, protectors and companions. She is also linked to snakes, which represent transformation through shedding their skin and who are linked to the underworld and the moon. Pictured here, her familiars are a black raven, often linked to magick and the connection between worlds and a barn owl, associated with the mysteries of night and the subconscious.

She stands amongst a bed of deadly nightshade which is related to witchcraft and the supernatural, often included as an ingredient in witches’ brews, a poison and a potent hallucinogenic believed to induce flight.
