Reunited
‘Reunited’ depicts William Wallace being reunited with his true love after death. The orbs represent the souls of those who died fighting for the Independence of Scotland. The tragic couple stand on the banks of Loch Lomond amongst the heather, symbol of good luck, protection, independence, purity and innocence. The Celtic cross represents the four elements of fire, earth, air and water. The centre ring is evocative of the Celtic symbol for infinite love. Digging deeper, on a personal level it relates to my first love who sadly passed young. Beautiful soul, beautiful face, beautiful boy…I cried a lot painting this. It helped me to process my emotions and move forward.
‘The pain of grief is just as much part of life as the joy of love: it is perhaps the price we pay for love, the cost of commitment.’ Dr Colin Murray Parkes
