Light My Fire

‘Light My Fire’ depicts Aine (pronounced awn-ya), Celtic Goddess of Summer, love and wealth. Aine, meaning radiance, linked to midsummer and the sun is often seen as a Goddess of luck, magick and the earth.

Known as a Faery Queen she is believed to bring blessings and prosperity and have relationships with both mortals and immortals.

She has command over crops and animals and is associated with fertility and agriculture.

People often ask what inspires me. I usually start with an idea or theme, in this case Solstice, then the painting takes on a life of it’s own. Where these soul whisperings actually come from, I’m not really sure. Emotions, subconscious energies and life experiences (whether in this life or previous lives) are interwoven in the creative process. Murmurings of ancestral wisdom, soul connections or channelling divine feminine vibrations?

Creating, for me, is a healing process and throughout this painting I felt a deep need to heal from trauma related to fire by channelling Aine’s connection to the sun.

The Summer Solstice, time of peak sunlight and the longest day of the year is a time to celebrate the sun’s energy, connect with our inner power and potential for growth and embrace the abundance of nature.  Call on Aine when you need courage and strength.
