‘Inside Outside’

is about the feeling of always being on the outside even when you’re on the inside. It’s a feeling I’ve struggled with my whole life. Imposter syndrome is common and affects many people and is created by our own thoughts. The ghostly figure contrasts with the dark doorway behind her. The doorway represents transition, leaving one part of life behind and moving on to another. She is facing away from the door so she’s not ready to go through yet. She stands despondently ‘inside’ the cloisters of Glasgow University. They tower above her imposingly. She is also ‘outside’ as the cloisters are not enclosed within walls.
